I am Shawna McMurran (pictured at left with Asia), and I founded Condo Cat in the Fall of 2008. With my love and passion for animals, coupled with an entrepreneurial spirit, I identified with the market niche that Condo Cat’s services support.

As a working professional with an on-the-go lifestyle, family and friends living out of province, and myself a pet owner living in a condo, I relate to the needs and concerns of cat owners.

The challenge of having to leave your cat behind while going out of town, and the unease this can cause you, are things I understand.

Shortly after moving to Calgary, I adopted my little ball of joy, ‘Asia’, from the Calgary Humane Society.

Asia was approximately a year old when she was brought to the animal shelter after being found on the streets. Her big green eyes and sweet nature captured my attention immediately.

Asia settled in nicely to her new home and became accustomed to being an indoor-only condo cat.

In the summer of 2008, I became a regular volunteer at the Cochrane & Area Humane Society. I quickly discovered the happiness that helping and caring for various cats can bring.

It became undeniably clear that I was most happy and at peace when in the company of these little furry balls of joy. From little cats to big cats, skinny cats to fat cats, young cats, old cats, cats with disabilities, illness or injury. I simply loved to see the eager faces of these little guys waiting to greet me.

I loved them unconditionally, and knew I wanted to do more to help animals in need, and support those already in loving and supportive homes.

Eventually all the pieces came together and Condo Cat blossomed into fruition!
